LouCity & Racing Louisville are Playing for Pride
LouCity x Racing Louisville x Athlete Ally🌈
Athlete Ally believes that everyone should have equal access, opportunity, and experience in sports — regardless of your sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. Their mission is to end homophobia and transphobia in sport and to activate the athletic community to exercise their leadership to champion LGBTQI+ equality. Soccer has paved the way for equity and inclusion in sport.
Louisville is a proud soccer town. We welcome all people to our city and our beloved sport. This year, we’re partnering with Athlete Ally on their annual Playing for Pride Campaign to support their mission.
LouCity defender Sam Gleadle is leading fundraising efforts for LouCity and Racing Louisville throughout the month of June! Some suggested match-specific donation parameters are:
$5 per team goal
$5 per team win
$5 per clean sheet
and (for kicks) $1 per yellow card
Follow your pledge throughout the month and donate at the end of June or if you dont want to wait to give, consider a one time donation to show your support!
On June 29th, we will welcome Athlete Ally as they celebrate their Student-Athlete Activism Summit in partnership with the University of Louisville. The Summit is a one-of-a-kind 4-day event for LGBTQ+ collegiate student athletes and their allies. On June 29th all 150 attendees will be attending the Racing Louisville vs. Bay FC game.
Join us as we Fill the Fam and be a part of the movement to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights on and off the field by donating today. Together, we’re building the world’s strongest team: Team Inclusion.
Ally Story: Sam Gleadle
“Playing for Pride with Athlete Ally is something I have participated in my entire professional career. Joining in with this campaign means a lot to me because I grew up seeing first hand my loving Aunt and her wife being happy. Laughing and being themselves 100% of the time, being great role models for my brother and me when we were growing up. Everyone should have the ability to be happy with who they are and love who they want. That is why supporting this campaign and spreading awareness is so important to me.”
