Nikki Hiltz, America’s fastest 1500m runner, is on the brink of making history at the highest level of sport. As they chase excellence, Nikki grapples with the challenge of embracing their trans nonbinary identity while competing in a world that demands conformity.

Like any great sports movie, KICK is about an elite athlete fighting to achieve their dream, and encountering hurdles along the way. Through intimate behind-the-scenes footage of Nikki’s 2024 season–from workouts to high-stakes races, doctors’ appointments to therapy sessions, family fights to romantic milestones–we hope to humanize the trans experience, revealing shades of gray in an issue that divides so many.
